We Welcome Insurance
Dental insurance offers an excellent and affordable way to help families spend less on their dental care, and at Littleton Dental Studio, we’re more than happy to welcome it! If you have a plan, we’ll not only accept it but our office manager, Lauren, will also file your claim for you to make things nice and easy. We’re happy to answer any questions you might have about your coverage, and below, you’ll find our quick and easy guide on dental insurance so you can know the best way to use your plan.
Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
Dental insurance works very similarly to medical insurance in many ways. In exchange for a monthly premium, policy holders gain access to sizeable discounts on a wide variety of services. The major difference is that dental insurance is primarily focused on helping patients afford preventive care. The idea is that this will enable people to take care of problems early and avoid the need for more extensive (and expensive!) treatments. Be sure to keep this in mind as you read on…
What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers
Most dental insurance plans follow the same basic benefits structure, which often looks like this:
- Preventive care is covered 80-100% (checkups, cleanings, X-rays, dental sealants, fluoride treatments).
- Basic restorative care (fillings, bonding) is covered 70-80%.
- Advanced restorative services are covered 50% (crowns, bridges, dentures, root canals, extractions).
- Cosmetic services are typically NOT covered because they are elective procedures (porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, cosmetic bonding).
What does this mean to you? If you want to get the most out of your plan, focus on prevention. You’ll spend little to nothing out of pocket at your regular checkups and cleanings, plus they’ll lower your chances of needing restorative services that receive less coverage.
We Offer In-Network Savings & Welcome Out-of-Network Providers
As an in-network provider with many different PPO dental insurance plans, our dental office is able to offer the highest level of savings for the majority of our insured patients. However, if we are out-of-network with your plan, we’ll gladly accept it as well! Going out-of-network doesn’t always mean you’ll end up paying a lot more, and patients are usually pleasantly surprised by how much they can save.
